This is the phoenix of shadows, or Shadowphoenix. Shadowphoenix is one of the three great phoenixes. There are seven phoenixes in total.

Despite the element, every phoenix immolates itself in fire. Each uses a different color of flame, Shadowphoenix's is a dark grey, shown above her back.

There is no set time when a phoenix dies to be reborn, though the average is about 200 years, depending on what the phoenix does and how often the phoenix is hurt.

The phoenixes are immortal, and thus technically have no gender.

Shadowphoenix's element is shadow, and often serves as mediator between the dark and light phoenixes. She makes sure that neither of them gets too powerful, so she isn't exactly popular among the others as she is as likely to hinder them as help them.

*Edit* I added the ugly dA watermark to all of my reference sheets so that no one can use these for roleplaying. If anyone needs a version without the watermark, I can provide it if you ask. Also, I DO NOT ROLEPLAY, if you see anyone using these characters or claiming to be me, contact me please.

Hmmm... curious. I love the colors and the design is wonderful. I too have thought of such thing as a shadow phoenix... I asure you though, it was of no such splendor as this, and it was a completely different concept
